This series of X Factor is to be Dannii Minogue’s last, according to a report in The Sun.
The tabloid claims that Simon Cowell will axe Dannii after this year’s final, after he was reportedly unhappy that the new mum refused to let them hire a stand-in judge for the entire 2010 series.
Dannii took time off to have son Ethan and missed this year’s auditions, but will return in time for the judges’ houses stage in October.
“It’s no secret that her determination to do this year’s show annoyed people,” a source told the newspaper. “Some very senior figures hoped she would step aside so they could find a new judge and keep some degree of continuity between the auditions and the live shows.”
Instead, several famous females stepped in to fill Dannii’s seat at X Factor auditions – Geri Halliwell, Pixie Lott, Natalie Imbruglia, Katy Perry and Nicole Scherzinger. The Pussycat Doll proved most popular with the other judges and was asked back for boot camp after Cheryl Cole fell ill.
Now it’s rumoured Nicole will be offered a permanent slot on next year’s X Factor instead of Dannii, though Simon may also have his eye on her for the judging panel of US X Factor, which launches in 2011.
