Live and Unsigned finalist Lucy Spraggan offered Record Deal

September 27, 2011

10_Lucy_SpragganLive and Unsigned music star Lucy Spraggan has been signed to BGM. The acoustic-rap songstress made a massive impression in the Grand Final of Live and Unsigned to land the deal with London-based BGM.

Lucy Spraggan finished second in the Urban/Pop/Acoustic category, only losing out to overall winners The Trinity Band. In the final at London’s O2 Lucy performed a mega-mix of chart hits in one breathless sequence as well as her own song ‘Last Night’. Now the future looks bright for Lucy, from Buxton in Derbyshire, “I am excited to be working with people who are just as eager as I am, I can’t wait to see what the future holds. This year there’s a lot of work on the cards, but with the support of BGM the outcome should be well worth it.”

BGM has also successfully worked with artists such as Pixie Lott, Etta Smith and Hatty Keane, whose debut single Best Kept Secret is out this week.

Entering Live and Unsigned has not only resulted in a deal with BGM for Lucy, but also a series of festival spots. She was spotted at one of the Live and Unsigned showcase finals by the organiser of Osfest, where she was asked to perform in May. Not only did she wow the crowd at the Shropshire music festival, she was described in one review as the highlight of the entire festival.

The exposure the competition gave Lucy proved priceless, “the whole Live and Unsigned experience has been amazing; each show there was a bigger crowd and more competition so you really learn to ‘perform’. I met so many contacts from different areas of the music industry and the competition created a chain reaction of good things. I would recommend it to any performer that wants to develop their talent and get some real exposure.”

Lucy made many admirers from her journey through the Live and Unsigned competition, not least Radio One DJ Tom Deacon who immediately marked her as one to watch for the future, “she made me laugh, shocked me, wowed me, but most of all she has star quality.”

The acoustic musician describes her style as ‘A Flop’, the blend of genres that comes together in Acoustic Folk and Hip-Hop. Given the attention her style has demanded it’s unlikely her music career will be described with the same term.

Lucy Spraggan will take to the road in the last months of 2011 showcasing at Open Mic UK shows across the country. Her debut album will be released by BGM in the coming months. It’ll feature her trademark mid-song raps and some ballads with lyrics that’ll make you laugh, cry, think and sing-along.
