Kelly Rowland Joins UK X Factor Judging Panel

May 26, 2011

Kelly-Rowland1With so much hype surrounding the launch of the U.S version, it is easy to forget that the U.K still has an X-Factor. But we do, and if recent rumours are to be believed then Miss Kelly Rowland will be joining our version as a judge.

The former Destiny’s Child member is said to be signing a deal towards the end of this week and is absolutely thrilled with her new role. She is claimed to have stated,“The X Factor is an amazing show. I love Simon because he’s so honest. Everything he says I agree with. I don’t know what kind of judge I’ll be.”

With this recent bit of information we can expect the new judging panel to include; Gary Barlow, Tulisa Constavolos, Kelly Rowland and the last of the original line-up, Louis Walsh.

Simon is hoping that Kelly will give the X-factor some ‘street-cred’ with the show reportedly in crisis after losing three of its main stars in the space of a month. Many have been questioning if the hit show can survive after such an upheaval.

Am I the only one who isn’t at all excited by the new line-up? The previous series attracted a record-breaking 20-million viewers and i can’t help but think that the show has reached its peak. There were several reasons why we all tuned in last year and one of them was the chemistry between the judges.

Never one to let a good opportunity to pass them by, the BBC are reportedly hoping to sign Dannii Minogue for a new talent show to rival the X-Factor. The television channel is said to be producing their own version of The Voice; a talent show that is already making waves in the states.

The Voice is a singing competition with a twist: the twist being that the judges can’t actually see the contestants. The judges sit in large chairs facing the audience during auditions thus to ensure that the contestant is purely being judged on their voice and not on their appearance.

With viewers certain to applaud this new format and the wise decision to try and snap up Miss Minogue, we may have a brand new contender for Saturday night television.
