Twins John and Edward Grimes were given the boot from The X Factor last night – after facing favourite Olly Murs in the vote off.
The 18 year olds, dubbed Jedward by their loyal fans, received the least number of votes – alongside the Essex boy – for their performance on Saturday night’s George Michael-themed show.
They were forced to perform in Sunday evening’s sing-off, and belted out Boyzone’s No Matter What – a rendition that had Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole cringing.
Louis Walsh opted to save the duo, who he mentored, while Dannii, Cheryl and Simon Cowell chose to keep Olly in the competition.
After the verdict, John told Dermot O’Leary: “It’s been kind of crazy, but Olly deserves to go though. I hope he and Stacey go all the way. We’ve been here week after week – singing live on TV. It’s been amazing.”
Edward added, “It’s like deadly – probably the coolest place in the world to be.”
And their mentor Louis – who now has no acts left in the competition – was sorry to see the pair go: “I’ve had the best time working with them. They’ve made me feel young again. All the fun has gone from The X Factor now they’ve gone.”
