Viewers who tune in for tonight’s ITV1 show will seemingly learn the fate of Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle, Storm Lee and co after the judges’ houses stage of the talent contest.
According to the Daily Star Sunday, fans shouldn’t worry too much if their favourite doesn’t make the final 12, as it will not necessarily mean they are out.
The tabloid claims the other 20 contestants will be invited to the first live show and Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue will be given the opportunity to choose one ‘wild card’ act each to re-enter the competition.
An X Factor source said Simon has been keen to spice up the format with ‘wild card’ finalists for several years and that he has now decided to implement what he expects to be a ratings-winning twist.
.’This is a major shake-up for the show and it’s bound to upset the original 12 acts who were chosen at judges’ houses,’ they said.
The insider added: ‘The judges know about it now but didn’t at the time when they made their choices. The fur will no doubt fly!’
