We’ve got to hand it to Simon Cowell. Despite getting just a little heated over the now victorious Rage Against the Machine campaign, he is most definitely not holding a grudge.
So much so, in fact, that he has called Jon and Tracy Morter, who led the Facebook campaign to overthrow his Christmas number one rule, to offer the pair jobs.
Speaking about what became an epic battle for the Christmas top spot, Cowell said: “I am gutted for Joe because a number one single meant a lot to him, but I have to congratulate Jon and Tracy.
“I called Jon on Saturday to congratulate the two of them that, win or lose, they turned this into a very exciting race for the Christmas number one.”
According to the Mirror, Simon said he was “genuinely impressed” by their campaign which involved no funding.
“I offered them jobs at my record company. It could be in marketing or even running the company!
“I wanted them to come and work for us. I was deadly serious but they haven’t taken me up on the offer.”
We expect they wised up to his cunning plan to prevent them from pulling it off again next year.
