Jay-Z has been announced as one of the headliners for The Isle Of Wight Festival in 2010.
The US rapper and mogul will take to the stage on the Friday of the three-day event in Seaclose Park, Newport.
Jay-Z was the controversial choice for 2008’s Glastonbury festival. Noel Gallagher famously said it was “wrong” to have hip hop at the Somerset concert, usually a favourite for guitar and indie bands.
Other acts unveiled for Isle Of Wight include Blondie, Pink and The Strokes.
Festival promoter John Giddings said: “Ever since I heard the first Strokes album, I’ve wanted them for the Isle of Wight. Jay-Z and Pink are two of the best live acts I have ever seen and the Blondie hits speak for themselves. I can’t wait.”
