Children In Need Single Topping Charts

Peter Kay’s Children In Need single, which features an array of much-loved animated stars, has proved an instant chart-topper.

The medley – featuring characters such as Bob The Builder and Postman Pat – went straight to the top of the iTunes video chart after being released on download at the weekend.

And because the Animated All Star Band track comes “bundled” with other tracks, it also topped the iTunes album chart. The CD and DVD of the song and video are being released in shops today (Monday).

The track – masterminded by Kay and featuring the character he voices, Big Chris from Roary The Racing Car – was unveiled during the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal on Friday.

It features more than 100 familiar faces from children’s TV shows across the generations, including Thunderbirds, the Wombles, Bagpuss and Fifi And The Flowertots.
