Mariah Carey dumps Strictly for X factor

Mariah Carey had pulled out of a performance on Strictly Come Dancing so that she can appear on The X Factor, it has been claimed.

Reports say that the 39 year old had been scheduled to appear on Saturday night’s Strictly, but withdrew at short notice after X Factor Judge Simon Cowell told her representatives that she could not do both shows.

The cast from West End show Jersey Boys filled in for the slot on the BBC dancing show.

A BBC spokesman said: ‘We had hoped to have Mariah Carey on the show but her schedule changed and made it impossible.’

Carey has already recorded ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ for The X Factor which will be shown on next Sunday’s show.
